Washington County Schools Safety Update: “See Something, Say Something” Training Complete

Washington County Schools is proud to share an important safety milestone with our community. Both Washington County High School and Elder Middle School have completed all mandated training for faculty, staff, and students in the “See Something, Say Something” Anonymous Reporting System.

Supporting Georgia’s New School Safety Law

This initiative aligns with recent Georgia legislation, HB 268, which requires all school systems to implement an anonymous reporting system for safety concerns. Under this law, school districts across the state must have a system in place that allows students and staff to report potential threats or concerning behavior confidentially.

What is the “See Something, Say Something” System?

The Anonymous Reporting System empowers students, staff, and community members to report concerns safely and confidentially. Reports can include issues such as bullying, threats, suspicious activity, or concerns about a student’s well-being. These tips are reviewed and addressed promptly by trained personnel and, when necessary, shared with appropriate authorities. Please use the link or QR code below to access the anonymous tip form:

Benefits for Our WACO Schools and Community

Implementing this system provides several key advantages:

  • Enhanced School Safety: Early reporting allows school officials to intervene before situations escalate.
  • Student Empowerment: Students have a safe, confidential way to speak up and help protect their peers.
  • 24/7 Accessibility: Reporting tools are available at any time through apps, websites, or hotlines.
  • Anonymous and Confidential: Individuals can report concerns without fear of retaliation.
  • Stronger Community Partnership: Parents, students, and staff work together to maintain a safe learning environment.

Building a Culture of Awareness

Through this training, students and staff have learned how to recognize warning signs, respond appropriately, and take action when something doesn’t seem right. This proactive approach helps foster a culture where safety is everyone’s responsibility.

Washington County Schools remains committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for all students. We encourage our entire community to stay engaged, remain vigilant, and remember: If you see something, say something.
